ToneCraft Android App Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how the ToneCraft Android app (the “App”), which provides a guitar tuner and metronome, accesses and handles information.
1. Developer and Contact
The App is operated by ToneCraft. For privacy questions, contact us at gxyancn@qq.com.
2. Microphone and Tuner
When you start the tuner and grant microphone permission, the App reads real-time PCM audio to analyze pitch and display tuning results on your device. The microphone is used only for the tuner.
- Audio is analyzed in the device’s memory and is not saved by the App as a recording or uploaded to our servers;
- The App stops recording and clears its analysis buffer when you leave the tuner, the App enters the background, permission is revoked, or the audio session is interrupted;
- The App does not sell or actively disclose microphone audio to third parties.
3. Camera Permission and Flashlight
If you enable metronome flash feedback, the App requests Android camera permission to control your device’s flashlight. The App does not take, save, or upload photos or videos for this purpose. You can deny or revoke camera permission in system settings. Flash feedback will then be unavailable, while the other metronome features remain available.
4. Local Device Settings
The App stores preferences on your device, including your language, last opened page, instrument and tuning choices, and metronome tempo and rhythm settings. These preferences are stored in the App’s private Android storage and are not uploaded to our servers. Clearing App data or uninstalling the App deletes them.
5. Metronome Audio and Background Playback
The metronome generates and plays beat audio on your device. Android may show a media notification while it is playing so you can control playback. The App does not collect or upload personal information through beat playback. The playback service ends when playback stops.
6. Collection and Third-Party Services
The App does not provide account registration, cloud synchronization, advertising, behavioral analytics, crash reporting, or in-app payments. The App does not send microphone audio or the local preferences described above to us or an advertising service. Android and your device manufacturer may process system data needed to run the App under their own policies.
When you open the Privacy Policy or User Agreement from Settings, your device uses an external browser to visit GitHub Pages. GitHub and your browser may process web access logs under their own policies; the App does not control those logs. If you email us, we use your email address and message to respond to your inquiry or privacy request, and retain them only as long as needed to handle it, except where a longer period is required for legal or security reasons.
7. Security and Retention
Tuner audio stays in device memory only during analysis. App preferences stay on your device until you clear App data or uninstall the App. We cannot remotely access these local preferences. Contact emails are retained for the time needed to handle the inquiry, feedback, or privacy request, except where a longer period is required by law or for security.
8. Children’s Privacy
The App is not specifically designed for children. We do not actively collect children’s personal information through the App.
9. Changes to This Policy
We will update this page and its last updated date if the App’s features, data practices, or applicable laws change. Please review this policy periodically.
